New Year- New Chapter

Whether we are promising to get better at returning our library books on time, or making a serious commitment to reading for pleasure, books and reading will often feature in many of our New Year’s intentions.

It is common for students returning after a break to forget that they may now have a library book that is due back.  For our fantastic library collection to work effectively, it is essential that all our library users borrow and return responsibly by keeping track of their loans.

Over the coming weeks those students who have outstanding loans will receive automated email reminders from our library management system called Eclipse.

Encouragement from home can also really help with responsible borrowing habits, and no student should ever be worried about returning an overdue book; there are no fines attached to their late return, though on occasion a request can be made directly to parents/carers for a replacement charge on a lost or damaged item, or alternatively they may wish to provide a replacement copy.

Having a clear out?

The school library is always happy to take donations to add to our collection.  If a book meets a criteria e.g., age appropriate, relevant content and in good condition- then we will gladly receive items. We do also from time to time have second-hand book sales for charity, so donations may also be appropriate for these occasions. Anyone considering donating items might wish to contact me first to discuss. clare.gibson@kshs.uk
