Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Kesteven and Sleaford High School Selective Academy believes that all pupils have a right to a broad, balanced, relevant and inclusive curriculum that challenges them to achieve academic and personal success. The school aims to encourage and foster the development of all pupils. It is our intention to identify any barriers to learning at an early stage and to ensure that provision is put in place for any specific needs or difficulties, to ensure these needs are supported successfully through a graduated response that includes teachers, parents and pupils. We work in conjunction with the SEND Local Offer – Lincolnshire County Council: more information can also be found here Lincolnshire FSD
We have provision for a wide range of educational and health needs, covering the four areas of SEN:
- Communication and interaction, including autistic spectrum conditions and speech and language difficulties
- Cognition and learning, including dyslexia
- Social, emotional and mental health
- Sensory and physical needs
Students with special or additional needs are supported by the Special Educational Needs and Disability team at the school. Students with a statement of special educational needs or an educational, health and care plan, are supported in accordance with their statement or plan: they have annual reviews that set individual and personal targets which enable students to make outstanding progress in relation to their personal targets.
Students may arrive at the school with their needs identified and will be on the SEN and D register and with a SEN provision – this ensures that these students are also supported and monitored in accordance with their personal and individual needs.
The school has a clear RCT SEND Policy regarding the procedures followed to ensure all students’ needs are kept under review and additional support is put in place when needed.
Kesteven and Sleaford High School Selective Academy have formed a strong partnership with a variety of agencies that support students with a range of Special Educational Needs. A list of the agencies and the procedures the school uses to ensure the appropriate care and support is in place for our students with additional needs, is outlined in the KSHS SEND Information Report.
