On Saturday 4 June 2022 three High School students were lucky enough to be in the audience for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Concert in London. The four students were chosen by DofE Coordinator Mrs Walker for their efforts to support DofE and the community during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
In the spirit of this month’s school Wellbeing theme of feeling proud, you might have seen that the 20 year 9 students who took part in the River of Hope Art workshop in March had their work paraded down the Mall in the Jubilee Pageant!
Thank you to all students who baked cakes for the Jubilee celebration cake stall last term. We raised over £100 to be divided between the four charities nominated by our House Captains.
Friday 10 June was not a regular Friday for the members of the Young Journalists Club here at KSHS – instead, it was our first opportunity to showcase our journalism skills beyond Sleaford! With microphones, clipboards and chocolate prizes, we set off for an experience day at Cranwell Primary School.
The Maths department were delighted with the results of the recent Junior Maths Challenge and would like to say a massive well done to the 217 pupils who took part. All pupils receive either a certificate of participation, bronze, silver or gold dependent on result. This year we had 12 pupils attain gold, 23 silver and 67 bronze. Pupils can look back at their results by logging on to their UKMT profile.
We have a fascinating collection of archived newspapers on display that illustrate significant news events since 1952. Also on display are details of Children’s Laureates; an important post created in 1999 that biannually appoints an eminent children's author or illustrator to champion and celebrate outstanding achievement in children’s literature throughout the United Kingdom.
On Saturday 14 May, Meredith, 10L competed at an Air Cadet sports competition: Trent Wing Athletics, with the rest of 2160 Sleaford Squadron.

Staff are invited to nominate students who have demonstrated a Growth Mindset in the past few weeks. This might have been in lessons, in clubs, in tutor time or simply around school. Please note we already award bi-annual subject badges and merits for good academic work, effort and improvement. These Growth Mindset nominations recognise those who show resilience (academic or otherwise); who aren’t afraid to get things wrong and learn from it; those who have a go, take themselves out of their comfort zone or show that even if a task is tough they will persevere.

On Monday 16 May 2022 several Robert Carre Trust ex-students arrived at Buckingham Palace gardens to celebrate achieving their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. They were greeted by RAF Air Cadets. International adventurers and explorers, business leaders and entrepreneurs spoke including TV Explorer Ben Fogle, TV Apprentice’s Tim Campbell and DofE alumna Actress Nina Wadia and there were games and activities in the garden for all to enjoy.
