Former Student Returns to Inspire at KSHS World of Work Day

Students at Kesteven and Sleaford High School gained valuable career insights on Tuesday as the school hosted its annual World of Work Day for Year 9 pupils.

The event welcomed a range of professionals from different industries, giving students the opportunity to explore potential career pathways and learn first-hand about the world beyond the classroom. Among the guest speakers was former KSHS student Emily Lloyd, who returned to share her journey into healthcare as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in Emergency Medicine.

Emily’s session proved particularly popular, offering students an insight into a lesser-known role within the health sector. Her experience and enthusiasm left a strong impression on many, with one student commenting: “I enjoyed Emily Lloyd's session, she was engaging and her job is most closely linked to my idea of a career in healthcare.”

Head of Sixth Form and Careers Lead, Sarah Chant, praised the impact of the day. She said:
“It was fantastic to have Emily back in school and see how she had progressed in her education and career since leaving. She was a really inspiring role model for the students who liked learning about her job, which was not an obvious one in the health sector that they knew about before.”

World of Work Day continues to be a key part of KSHS’s careers programme, helping students broaden their knowledge of future opportunities and encouraging them to think ambitiously about their next steps.
