Year 8 Star Jemima Cooks Up National Success with 3rd Place Finish

Year 8 student Jemima has rounded off an extraordinary culinary journey by reaching the National Final of the prestigious Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition - an achievement that places her among the very best young chefs in the country.
After an incredible run of success since September, Jemima travelled to Cheshire in April to represent the Midlands in the National Finals. Having already won at local, district and cluster levels before being crowned Midlands Champion, she faced the toughest competition yet, cooking alongside the top young culinary talents from across the UK.
The National Final was a truly memorable experience. Tasked with preparing a three-course meal under strict time conditions, Jemima demonstrated exceptional skill, creativity and composure throughout. Her dishes impressed both in presentation and flavour, reflecting the hard work and passion she has shown at every stage of the competition.
In an outstanding result, Jemima was awarded 3rd place nationally, a remarkable achievement at such a high level of competition. This places her firmly among the top young chefs in the UK and is a testament to her talent, dedication and perseverance.
The experience also provided Jemima with invaluable insight into high-level competition cooking and the opportunity to learn from both judges and fellow finalists.
Jemima’s journey has been supported every step of the way by the Rotary Club of Sleaford, along with her family and Kesteven & Sleaford High School staff. Her teacher, Mrs Pankhurst, praised her determination and growth, noting how much confidence and expertise she has developed throughout the competition.
The entire school community is incredibly proud of Jemima – not only for her success, but for the resilience, professionalism and enthusiasm she has shown along the way. She has been a fantastic ambassador for the school and an inspiration to her peers.
