Teacher Training

School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)

Working with the St George's Partnership, Kesteven and Sleaford High School are delighted to offer School Centred Initial Teacher Training. An opportunity to develop both your knowledge on teaching pedagogy and your practice as a secondary school teacher.

What will your training look like?

The majority of your training will take place here at Kesteven and Sleaford High School as your allocated school, with a second placement at a contrasting school, one day a week in University (Lincoln University) and subject specific days where you meet with other trainees and work alongside a subject specialist. Whilst developing your practice you will be playing a full part in the life of the school and attending training from school-based staff to support your university learning.

Why Choose Kesteven and Sleaford High School?

  • Full PGCE qualification available as well as your Qualified Teacher Status, including 60 Master credits
  • Unlike PGCE university routes, you will be learning the theory parallel to experiencing the pedagogy in practice at your school.
  • We choose to work with Lincoln University as our training provider as they are an outstanding provider of Initial Teacher Training Programme.
  • You will be guaranteed a high level of support, including a subject mentor
  • You will have a detailed individual week-by-week training plan set out for you from day one, so you always know what's coming and how it fits into the bigger picture.

At Kesteven and Sleaford High School We 'Instil Independence, Confidence and Resilience' in Our Students

We underpin this with everything we do with our students, and it is certainly true of our teacher training programme of which we are very proud. Your course begins in June with an induction week where you meet the team around your training and begin your journey to becoming a secondary teacher.

Who Can Apply?

If you have a Grade C/4 in Mathematics and English, a Degree (preferably a 2.1 class or above) and some school experience then this is the entry route for you!
