World Book Day 2022

The library was the central point of our World Book Day celebrations, with various book themed activities and competitions taking place.  Library Captains were on hand to distribute World Book Day tokens and help with the Library Lucky Dip and the Author Hunt activity.

Year 7 students took part in speed dating with books donated by The Book Trust. Titles were selected to help promote sociable reading and library borrowing experiences.  Six very different books were placed around the library with students spending time getting to know each book, before a class vote to decide their favourite.

Black Brother Black Brother by Jewell Parker Rhodes was the winner.

The English department hosted a ‘diorama’ competition. Students were tasked with recreating a key scene from a favourite book out of mixed materials. The final five dioramas have been judged by our elite team of experts (Ms Natley, Mr Cassidy, Miss Willers, Mrs Cowell and Mrs Gibson) and the winning diorama will be announced during assembly next week. Well done to all the fantastic entries, the standard was very high.
