Catering and FSM

The school catering service prides itself on having provided consistently high quality food for many years, whilst at the same time maintaining good value for money and offering a wide choice of items for purchase. The restaurant was re-furbished in 2010, to include modern seating areas and a separate lounge area for sixth form students, and has recently been awarded a 5 star rating from North Kesteven District Council.

Food is provided at mid-morning break, as well as at lunchtime, for pupils and staff alike. In addition to providing for our own pupils, the catering service also provides hot meals or packed lunches for five of the local primary schools. External buffets and events can also be catered for and all enquiries should be directed to Vanessa Chambers who can be contacted directly on 01529 411027.

We use a cashless system at the academy, meaning that students do not need to bring money into school for their food. Each pupil has an account which is funded by parents/guardians through the online secure payment site ParentPay. This site is also used to pay for school trips, music lessons and other items as required. When students wish to buy food, they are identified using the fingerprint of one of their middle fingers. This then allows them to buy items using the credit on their account. It should be noted that, while information is stored about their fingerprint, the pattern print itself is not fully stored and nor can it be recreated from the data held. Further information about this system, known as Vericool for Schools, can be found on their website. Students and their families are also able to opt out of this system.

Students from all backgrounds are welcomed to the school and we encourage families, where they are eligible, to register for free school meals. Students can enjoy food from the restaurant and there is no apparent difference in the way they pay for their food; some may even use it only infrequently.

You are entitled to free school meals for your children if you receive any of the following:
